About Patricia Beyer
My Background and Formal Education
The decision for a parent or family to seek counselling is a sensitive one. At the time you are feeling most vulnerable, you are investing and trusting in the knowledge, wisdom, and skills of someone you do not know.
Thirty seven years ago I began my work with children and families. In this period of time, whether as a teacher or counselor, I came to understand that no one individual can serve all populations. I will always be truthful with you if I believe I am not the best therapist for your needs, and I will do my best to offer referrals that may be a better fit for you.
My practice is geared towards working with children ages four years of age through early adolescence. I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Marylhurst University. I hold a professional counseling license (LPC) with the State of Oregon, and I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC).
Over the years I have counseled children and pre-adolescents with Depression, Anxiety, Attachment Issues, ADHD, Aspergers, Selective Mutism and Expressive Language challenges, Divorce, Loss and Grief, Drug and Alcohol issues within the family, and Family Systems.
My work has always included working with the parents in helping provide education and support in the parenting role. My work with parents and children is collaborative, as I believe this is the most effective and powerful means for developing empathy, compassion, and understanding in the therapeutic process.
